Wally loved his mothers dearly. They were very caring, as far as mums went, and they spent all the time in the world looking after and fawning over their only son. It wasn't that Wally considered himself spoilt, but he was definitely well look after. Being an only child had its benefits, from what he'd gathered, watching the other children at preschool (which he'd only attended one day a week, because his mummies wanted to spend as much time with him as possible) and listening to their horror stories about sharing toys and having fights and being told off.

The six-year-old gripped a hand of either of his parents in either of his, and used them as balance as he skated, encouraging him with smiles and laughter and little tugs on his mitten-clad fingers. His mothers were undoubtedly the kindest people in the world, and they loved him dearly.

Wally wished that it could be just the three of them forever.
